Planets & the 7th House of Partnerships, Part 3

When Saturn is in the 7th House, the individual takes relationships seriously. They’re all in or not at all. They’re capable and willing to commit, and often it is for the long haul, but finding the right partner and being open and vulnerable to another will be difficult. There’s often delays or even a lack of interest, perhaps a streak of independence in wanting to preserve their freedom. The personality of the native with Saturn in the 7th may seem cold, rigid, and aloof (which may make them less attractive or misunderstood to potential partners). Someone with Saturn in the 7th and, let’s say, Moon in Cancer may come across as reserved even unfriendly within their relationships, unable to reveal their deep feelings and ability to love deeply- until the other person is willing to stick around and watch that caring and nurturing side of them begin to flourish, assuming that the partner is able to provide a level of emotional comfort. When people with Saturn in the 7th finally do fall in love and commit, they’re in it for the long haul, unless other issues are evident in their birth chart. Also with 7th House Saturn, the partner will likely have Saturnian qualities such as shyness, modesty, punctuality, anxiety, patience, and honesty and physical traits will tend towards tall and skinny (unless other factors in the chart dominate).

When Rahu occupies the natal 7th House the person may be attracted to unusual people, unique personalities, trendsetters, or partners with some unexpected or mysterious quality about them. These traits may be seen in the native as well as within their relationships. Rahu can also indicate partners in work or love who aren’t completely honest or who can be quite confusing at times. Rahu, the North Node of the Moon, shows where we need to develop in this lifetime; therefore, the partner and partnerships will present opportunities for growth and the working out of karmic lessons. Rahu here places a strong emphasis on relationships, so the desire to be in and have a relationship will be evident, unless other factors in the chart obstruct. When Rahu is here, Ketu, the South Node of the Moon -always opposite Rahu, gives the native the ability to put themselves on the back burner, which could lead to problems due to focusing too much on the partner and losing their own identity and goals. The sign Rahu is in and its ruling planet will ‘flavor’ how the individual experiences their partner and commitments.

Lastly, when Ketu is in the 7th House, the native can be completely uninterested in relationships, fear commitment possibly due to past problems (from this or a previous life), or may be too critical of their potential partners that they’d be better off alone! With Ketu here, the individual may maintain relationships with people from the past (in this or a previous life) and may feel at ease with them. However, if things don’t go as hoped for, Ketu here can give the ability to severe ties swiftly. Where Rahu in the 1st House (always opposite Ketu) would indicate the native needs to work on themselves this time around, Ketu in the 7th can cause doubt, mistrust, and disappointment or ‘divine discontent’ in relationships as the individual will be tending primarily towards self-focus. In any partnership-work or personal, the individual absolutely requires some time alone and their partner will need to accept this. Ketu in the 7th also indicates the possibility of attracting a spiritual partner, someone who can inspire (at the very least, tolerate) the native’s own spiritual practice.

Remember, the rest of the birth chart, the ruling sign on the Ascendant, the dasha timeline, and the current transits all have to be looked at for a fuller, clearer understanding. The definitions given here and in Parts 1 and 2 are generalized.
